This is the day when everyone got daffodils in support of the Am. Cancer Assn. My dentist bought some too. Hers were a donation to a cancer patient, mine too in part because I know a bunch of 10 don't cost 10.00 They are competing here with the freesias and gardenia next to my bed.
I've got asparagus cooking and did my OJ and oatmeal for tomorrow. I made the oatmeal this morning with these huge raisins I get from the farmers market. (Alas, that was the end of them they almost made it though till next season). Today I added blueberries but I like strawberries too and best raspberries. I'm working on getting back on this food regime.
I'm also cooking the beets I got at the farmer's market. The vendor asked me if I ate the tops and I said no but I'm sure they are very sweet and nutritious. I'll move up slowly on that one. Maybe if I had a rabbit it could have the tops of carrots and beets.
Carol, my assistant, said she boils then and grew up eating them. She makes pollenta, an Italian grain sorta like risotto but made with a cornmeal base. I got two packages in Nov. and gave her one. I've yet to make mine.
I was very busy today and one of the other new teachers came over for lunch and I finally stopped took him in the back room where I finished my yogurt and heated some chicken Indian rice curry. It was hot. I finished it for dinner with dahl.
