Newport is beautiful. After visiting with Walter, Lynn and Alexa in Md, I slugged my way through PA, NYC, CT and it's spring again.
There are these spectacular mansions everywhere or summer "cottages". They were only used for 6-8 weeks a year from the last 1890's to the start of WWI.
I just took a tour of the Breakers, the Vanderbuilt mansion. It's 10,000some sq ft. with marble and beautiful parquet floors, stand in fireplaces, 10, music room, breakfast room formal dining room, seats 34; grand hall, informal dining room, music room, library, game room and the upper floor for bed and bathrooms. It took at staff of 40 to maintain. There are over 10 to see but one was enough.
I'm going for a walk on the ocean's cliff walk that skirts the Breakers, Marble House and many other properties not open to the public.
Only one more day and I head to CT for the festivities.
I haven't decided if I can take Jimmy up on his offer to stay with him or not.
I went into Providence briefly with an error in my directions.
I thought I had every mapquest direction and map AAA had.
Off to America's Cup Drive and Ocean to see the waterfront and all the boats.
No lobster now either. I did have some lobster bisque last night. Not my favorite though.
I truely did not hit this season right. I hear they are expensive here too, even for lobster rolls.
I'm back on 6 de Mayo at midnight. I'm ready.
